Culinary Enrichment

I hosted my first "Enrichment Meeting" last night. There was a good turn out, which made me happy and a bit surprised. I showed the Relief Society sisters how to make souffle and gougeres. I love to cook and I thought it would be fun to play Julia Child for an evening. I am more keenly aware now than ever that it's much easier when you have three ovens, overhead mirrors, the little glass bowls with everything measured out, a perfectly prepared pre-dish, and an imaginary audience. I needs to gits me one of them TV sets. :)

yum! Funny, I was just reading about grugeres, yesterday. Are they good? Feel free to teach me how to make those things while you're here! wink wink

I know exactly what you mean! Every time I watch the food network I think, "Hey, that looked pretty easy I'm sure I could pull that off no problem!" then I actually try it and it takes me 5 hours longer than I expected and it looks like a tornado hit my kitchen before I'm even close to finishing! If only I had an aide who measured out everything into bowls and put all my ingredients out on the counter before me. Cooking would be even more enjoyable!

I am a Mary "wanna be". I wish I could cook like you! Tasty and artistic all at once! I took a class called "Kitchens that Cook" at the Wooden Spoon last week. It has inspired me to organize my kitchen...again!...and fill my pantry so I am not running to the store all the time. I am in the process of creating my own cookbook so that menu planning, hopefully, will be easier. I am afraid when it is all said and done, however, it still won't be Mary!

By the by, I bought some prep bowls at my cooking class. If I never use them, you can have them!
