Bad Dreams

I rarely remember my dreams, but this morning I couldn't forget them. I supremely prefer the former to the latter. Even the sunshine this morning, an unusual and VERY welcome sight in Oberlin, couldn't disperse my feelings of horror and sorrow. I wondered whether I should try to push away the recollection into the farthest corner of my memory and hope that it would eventually seep out or if I should take it out and mold it until I could make sense of it. I have been vacillating all day alternately trying to forget about it and trying to understand it. I am afraid that if I push it away it will be stuck permanently in my subconscious as my slumber's toy and I fear that if I bring it out that it will become more real and trespass my conscious memory as well as my dreams. This is one area where I am glad I do not have more experience. I suppose "all things shall give you experience and shall be for thy good."

Maybe your dream is an answer in what to ponder. I think that dreams come from occurrences in our lives that were on our minds when we fell asleep. You might look at elements of your dream and if they apply to anything in your life that is worth thinking about and working out. I wouldn’t worry much on how the elements were put together- our minds crave order and a storyline, etc. is order, so our minds create them. The elements for me are important and the dream is just a way to recognize those.

That's a good perspective. Smiling can help make any situation better and you are right, "dreams are dreams." It reminds me of something Pres. Hinckley once said: "Life's too serious to take it seriously."
PS Who is this?

To Lindsey: It is the elements which frighten me.

Edmund, funny =)

Mary, heaven knows I've had some experience. I like to write them down. It seems to get it gone. Eventually I lose the paper and the memory as well.

Also,"all things shall give you experience and shall be for thy good." This quote would be a wonderful response to the draft on my blog which has yet to be posted. It poses the question, "Is all experience blessing?" More on that coming soon to a theatre near you.
