Autumn

It's been three years since I last experienced Autumn. My first year in Houston I felt time stand still as October, November, and December came and went in verdancy. When January came it was warm enough and sunny enough to sit outside by the pool while I worked on my studies. By then I had forgotten all about Fall. This year, as the season has been approaching, it has seemed surreal. My mind rationally knew that it was coming, but my other sensibilities continued to question the reality of the vibrant colors and crisp air. This week it's here, and it's real, and it's breathtaking, and it feels like home, holidays, cider, bonfires, apple pie and pumpkins. I remember now how hard it was to repress the ache I felt the first year Fall didn't come. I suppose that's why it's taken so long to allow myself to relish in it this time. It's really here! And I'm happy surrounded in the glories of Autumn.

I know what you mean! It's so nice to have a real four seasoned year. I'm used to a glimpse of fall and then snow the next week. I'm loving this weather! I'm off to the store to get some apple pie and maybe some cinnamon scent for the house : )

I completely agree with you. I almost forgot there were seasons until I went to Pittsburgh and saw the beautiful changing trees!

Amber, that is so happy! I went out and bought myself a pumpkin and a scented candle. Yay! You're close by now! What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

So True. I love Fall time and thoroughly enjoying the leaves changing. Virginia has the most beautiful fall time and we actually get a good fall not just a week or so.

I love the Fall as well! When I was a child, summer was my favorite time, but now it is autumn. The weather is lovely, the trees are arrayed in their glory! We have a tree in our front yard that is the most brilliant yellow...golden...it reminds me of the tree of life! Unfortunately the leaves only last like that for a few weeks and then it drops all it's leaves at once, but oh, for that week it is spectacular!
