This post is going up a little later than planned, but I wanted to make a forum to discuss what each in attendance gained from Conference last weekend. So please share!
I observed one major theme: LOVE. Not godly love, charity, the pure love of Christ, but human to human love: friendship, service, reaching out to neighbors, etc. Not only were we admonished to love our friends, families, spouses, and associates more, but repeated over and over was this poignant message: love is more than a feeling, it's an action; friendship is more than a feeling, it's an action; kindness is more than a feeling, it's an action.
Since last year, I've been revamping my life and am in a period of major reconstruction at present. One of the primary impetuses for this revamp is owing to many discussions with my sister, Emily, and the passing of my Grandma. I want to know what truly makes me happy, when am I am most satisfied with how I spend my time, etc. One of the epiphanies that has occurred during this process is how blessed I am to have the kind of friends and family that I have and how much I truly care for and love them. My relationships with my friends and family are one aspect of my life that brings me the most joy as well as the most learning and growth. Since conference I have a renewed determination not to just feel love, friendship, and kindness towards others, but to SHOW them ( he he Emily ;)) these sincere and heavenly emotions through my actions. My education is only important as far as it allows me to better serve this end.
One of the tender mercies the Lord has bestowed on me is family and friends who are constant examples of how to turn these emotions into actions! :)
